OMG! My uncle Bobby assumed command of this vessel from 1969 until his retirement from the US Navy. His name & rank is Lt Commander Charles Robert Pilcher, USN. Bwtn the 17 to 18 minute mark the camera got great shots of him !! It would be like my uncle, even tho he was a tough military seaman, to allow the crew to paint flowers and peace signs on the vessel and let the little kids from Vietnam have some fun aboard the ship while docked. Lt Commander Pilcher retired from the Navy at the end of the Vietnam era and lived peacefully with his family until he passed in October 1985. If there is anyone out there who sees this message that perhaps has any more film footage, photos or information in relation to my uncle, Lt Commander Pilcher, and the USS Grapple it would be warmly received and greatly appreciated by me and my family I can be reached via email at traceys_earth_studies@yahoo.com . i am soooo excited to have found your website, this video will make my family happy, esp my Auntie Mae and Bob & Mae's children! What an amazing gift to me and my family for Memorial Day 2011! Thank you so much for posting this !! Tracey MacNeill, Wilmington MA USA
